A brace for youngster Mark Tinsley and a pile driver by old boy Scott Mooney was enough to see off Radford on Saturday as Holwell got back on the winning track.

In what was a pretty comfortable afternoon Holwell were without Tom Williams and Stuart Rose in defence due to injuries with Graham Wells and Ian Bitmead being drafted in from the start.

Holwell were at Radford from the off with first chance coming as quickly as the second minute when Bitmead had a half chance with a header from an early corner. The early pressure paid off and on 6mins the visitors were deservedly in the lead when Michael Stevenson sent a ball to the back post where Mark Tinsley found himself unmarked to force the ball over the line and Holwell one nil up.

Holwell were camped in the Radford half with the tide one way towards the home goal with keeper Rhodes the busiest of the two goal keepers having to deal with three corners in succession. Holwell were marauding down both flanks with Keast on the right and Tinsley on the left causing problems running at the defence. On 20mins Tinsley ran into the left hand channel checked back and swung in a cross which Scott Mooney took on the full to volley an unstoppable shot past Rhodes for number two.

This seemed to wake Radford up and they tried to push up on Holwell using their right side to good effect but it was an uphill struggle with Hibbitt back in the side after suspension giving Holwell a bit more steel in midfield than they have had recently.

Against the run of play on 27mins Radford won a free kick on the edge of the area when Bitmead was penalised for a push in the back on Jarhed Russell. The wall looked set but Sheriff Babatunde managed to curl the ball round the wall and in off Cragg’s right hand post to get Radford back into the match.

The rest of the half was controlled by Holwell with no other scares for the visitors. HT 1-2

The second half was very much the same as the first with Holwell well on top, not having to exert a great deal to keep Radford at bay and the first chance again fell to Holwell on 57mins when Mooney sent in a ball for Bettinson to head but the cross was just too high to connect with. Rhodes saved well from a free kick taken by Mooney on 62mins.
However the match was pretty one sided and killed off as a contest on 73mins when Mark Tinsley headed home a peach of a cross from Graham Keast. Keast had picked the ball up on the right before turning his full back inside out before whipping in a cross which Mark Tinsley despatched again at the back post.

Holwell were able to bring on McKay for Tinsley and Randall for Wells to give both a run out but the game had been won and a comfortable three points taken.
