The proposed testimonial for David Saddington has had to be re-arranged due to leicester City unexpectedly reaching the quarter finals of the FA Cup and their match, potentially away to Chelsea having been moved to Sunday 18th March meaning that several of the Legends squad would be travelling to London as part of other club or corporate duties.

However Leicester city legends have re-confirmed their commitment to the match by agreeing a new date of Sunday 15th April, KO 3pm.

David aged 31 who played for Holwell's First Team from the age of 18 to the age of 30, captaining the side for 11years, winning the Beacon trophy along the way, has unfortunately contracted the debilitating condition Rheumatoid Arthritis.

This has caused David to take lengthy periods off work, with some extremely expensive travel costs to and from hospital along with other adjustment costs to find as he battles this agonising condition.

Having been such a sterling member of the club for so long Holwell would like to reward his loyalty and help raise funds to cover David's ongoing costs by holding this testimonial and all hope that it goes some way to repaying his efforts over the years at the Welby Road Club.

Holwell has secured Steve Walsh's Leicester City Legends for this fund raising match which was set to be held on SUNDAY 18th March with a kick off of 3pm. Now due to Leicester City's unexpected cup run this will have to be re-arranged.

The Legends, who will bring with them upwards of TWENTY players including for this season, a squad from favourites such as Steve Guppy ex Leics City and Celtic FC, Muzzy Izzet, David Oldfield to name but a few and of course Steve Walsh and local Goalkeeper Carl Muggleton the former Leicester, Stoke, Celtic and Chesterfield stopper whose sons now play for Holwell Sports Youth Team.

David Saddington who was a youth development squad member with Steve Walsh in his early days at Leicester City, will select a Holwell XI consisting of players who he played with, mentored and coached in his time at Holwell and it is hoped that he could spring a couple of surprise additions to his squad to match some of the legends prowess.

It is hoped that those who supported David during his time at Holwell Sports FC will come with all the family to support this worthy cause.

The match, expected to attract a crowd in the region of 200, and supporting attractions, will be entry by ticket at a cost of £4 (all proceeds to go to D Saddington).

It will be the first time the Legends have appeared at Welby Road since Holwell installed their Floodlights.
