Holwell completed a league double over Borrowash with a 4-0 victory at the Anderson Electrical Arena.

After a slow start Holwell took control of this match and ran out comfortable winners with a win that continues the clubs rise through the East Midlands Counties League Table.

After the midweek cup defeat to Quorn Daws welcomed back Parra-Watson after injury, for the suspended Rose. Smith was also recalled with Foster only eligible for the bench due work commitments.

Borrowash who are enduring an indifferent season started the better and put Holwell under sustained pressure for the opening 10 minutes as Holwell struggled to settle on a rough surface. Borrowashs' best chance fell to Slack who rounded Stainsby in the Holwell goal but unfortunately couldn't beat Parra-Watson who cleared well off his own goal line.

This sparked Holwell into life. Smiths rifled shot from 20 yards was blocked as Holwell began to create their pressure. It was Stannard who broke the deadlock. Chapman crossed from the left and Stannard headed in to end a goal drought steming back to the 22nd November.

The goal galvanised Holwell further. Stannard again threatening the Borrowash goal. Borrowashs attacking threat seemed to have fizzled and only speculitive efforts from distance were only threatening Stainsby in Holwell goal, as Ridout, Parra-Watson, Calver and Chapman closed ranks.

With half time approaching Holwell doubled their lead. A cross from the right this time was bundled in by Stevenson to end his own goal scoring drought, and open his seasons account.

Holwell began the second half looking to kill the game off and stop borrowash building any possible momentum. It was a Borrowash substitute that forced Stainsby into save of the match diving low to his right to save a rasping volley. This save proved crucial as within minutes Holwell had added a third and firmly put day light between the two sides.

Stannard cooly slotting home for his second of the game and his fifth of the season.

With the game now over, Daws introduced Foster for Keast and with 15 minutes remaining Wells for Smith.

Stannard had a further three chances to complete his hat trick that his performance deserved but unfortunately fired over on all three occasions. With five minutes remaining however the substitutes combined to add a bit of gloss to the scoreline. Wells crossed for Foster who brought the ball down and turned before firing past the Borrowash keeper.

Holwell still pressed for more goals. Mooney firing over, before Foster drive was this time saved by the keeper. In the dying moments Holwell saw a corner headed against the Borrowash bar by one off their own defenders. Despite the late pressure it remained 0-4 as Holwell completed a rare league double over Borrowash.

With Holwell still harboring hopes off a top six finish this weekends fixture away at Ashby Ivanhoe is crucial. Holwell currently sit 12 points adrift of Ashby in 6th with three games in hand and a far in-superior goal difference. Holwell will also be out to put the record straight after Ashby inflicted an embarrassing 8-0 defeat upon them when the visited Welby Road earlier in the season.

Holwell; Stainsby, Calver, Ridout, Parra-Watson, Chapman, Smith (Wells 73 mins), Stevenson, Hibbitt, Keast (Foster 66 mins), Stannard, Mooney
