Holwell return from their trip to Greenwood Meadows with their first three points of the season.

Holwell go in to their bank holiday Monday fixture against high flying local rivals after dispatching Greenwood Meadows at Lenton Lane. With an attendance made up of at least 90% of Holwell following they were treating to a goal fest, aided by some poor defending.

Holwell made two changes with Wilding coming in for the unavailable Ridout. Hibbett fresh from his honeymoon was also straight back into the middle of midfield with Foster reverting to right back and Calver dropping to the bench.

Holwell started bright and were two in 15 minutes. Firstly an in-swinging corner from I.Wells ended up falling to the feet of G.Wells who lashed the ball into the net. Soon after a Stannard flick allowed G.Wells to nip in-front of the centre back before being left one on one with the goalkeeper and stroking the ball into the corner of the net.

Totally in control of the game Holwell then started giving the ball away needlessly and encouraging Greenwood to believe they had a route back into the game. That route was provided by a long ball straight down the pitch that caught the Holwell defence square and Cragg being left exposed and unable to stop the ball being fired past him. Greenwood's equalizer followed shortly after, this time again the Holwell defence caught square but this time by an inch perfect pass by a Greenwood midfielder who set his teammate up perfectly again to slot past the exposed Cragg and level the score at 2-2. After a few choice words from Daws and Hatton, Holwell emerged tasked with trying to regain control of the match they had previously just given away. Another bright start from Holwell saw them regain control of the game, and eventually regain the lead after good work down the left. Chapman started the move feeding G.Wells, who was allowed to turn and run at the Greenwood defence before slipping in Stannard, whose low strike was saved, but only parried straight to the feet of G.Wells to complete his hat-trick.

Holwell control to have control of the game but couldn't kill the game off against a stubborn Greenwood side. Stevenson was introduced from the bench in place of Smith to help sure things up and try and finish the tie as a contest.

The goal eventually came after another sub Randall saw his cross fumbled by the goalkeeper and again G.Wells was on hand to take advantage and score his and Holwell's fourth.

G.Wells was then replaced by Hazeldine and it was he who supplied the cross for Foster to add a Holwell fifth after a determined run by Stannard.

Holwell now look forward to their local derby against Barrow Town on Monday buoyed by their first three points of the season and will be looking to add to this against the Riversiders.
