Holwell continued where they left off on Saturday with a great away win at Blaby. Blaby didn’t know what had hit them as Holwell blasted off the blocks and were three up within the first fourteen minutes.

After settling themselves Holwell were quickly into their stride and pressurising Blaby pushing the back line up making Blaby play through rather over the visitors.

On ten minutes Holwell were ahead as the ball was played out to the left Graham Keast worked some magic and found Keiran Foster who had come in from the right he picked up the ball beat one defender and calmly slotted the ball under the advancing keeper.

This stunned Blaby and they seemed to go to pieces as within two minutes they were two down as the conceded cheaply on the left when Scott Mooney was bundled over. Graham Keast sent in a teasing ball to the back post where Sam Bettinson rose to head back over the goal this was cleared back to him and he sent the back across goal where Scott Mooney reacted quickest to put Holwell further ahead.

Whether it was the line up on the night or the managers instructions Blaby looked all at sea and not happy with their play and before they could settle and organise themselves they were even further behind and chasing a completely lost cause.

Jamie McKay pushing up from left back won the ball, coming inside he slipped the ball to skipper Graham Keast and as the defenders backed off he hit a thunderous shot from 25 yards which had the Blaby keeper beaten all ends up.

Holwell continued to dominate the half from this point as Blaby tried to regroup and form some kind of competition.

Both full backs for Holwell were pushing up and with a strong midfield the visitors were finding ways to get through the physical home side. More chances came during the first half with chances for Bettinson Mooney and Wells up front.

Blaby’s only chance of the first half came right on the stroke of half time but Cragg pulled off a great save to keep the visitor’s lead.
HT 0-3

As is normally expected when Blaby go this far behind the physical intimidation is ramped up and so it was as the second half started with several free kicks stopping early play. The worst saw Dean Randall have to leave the pitch after a forearm whack from a Blaby forward. The same forward lucky to escape a booking but not so a minute later after fouling Aaron Ridout.

Though Blaby tried to get back into the game they were up against a determined, focussed Holwell who played through the rough house tactics. Graham Wells was finding space on the left running into channels and this kept Blaby trying to play out of defence against a slick Holwell who were keeping a high line pressurising midfield.

It was still Holwell that looked the more likely to increase their lead and Wells had a good chance after being sent through by Hibbitt but the keeper did well to smother his shot.

Two chances more to seal the win came for Bettinson with a free header on 76mins and a quick free kick by Keast to Mooney saw Mooney hit a strong shot against the post with the keeper rooted.

Another great performance by Holwell on the road against higher placed opponents yet again.
