Holwell travelled to bottom of the league Aylstone Park on Saturday and had a good day away in the September sun comprehensively putting five past a struggling Aylestone at the Mary Linwood ground in Leicester.

Howell were in the zone from the start pressing the back four the first chance to open the score coming to Scott Mooney after Sam Bettinson had headed the ball down but Mooney sliced the ball over the bar.

Chances were being created ok it was the finishing that was lacking for Holwell in the early stages but as they became more accustomed to the bumpy ground the more a goal looked just around the corner and on 19mins Stevenson sent a great ball beyond the home defence for Mooney to chase on the left and as he broke in past a defender he was brought down winning a free kick. Holwell won a corner from the free kick, Bettinson’s run to attack the front post was not picked up and he rose to head Holwell in front.

Another promising attack on 26mins saw Mooney again chase the ball down before setting up Tom Williams but his left foot shot went wide of the target. Again Holwell were dominant in midfield and a great knock by Chris Hibbitt found Mooney onside and as he controlled the ball with only the keeper to beat he calmly lobbed keeper Shaun Allen to put the visitors two up on 28mins.

It was all one way now with Holwell dominating the play but the final ball in and around the box was not accurate and chances were going begging.

Just as the half was about to finish another move looked promising as Bettinson passed to Hibbitt, his pass out to Foster on the wing was crossed in deep at the back post and as Mark Cowling rose to head the ball down there was livewire Mooney on hand to tap the ball in for number three on 44mins. HT 0-3

Aylestone didn’t seem to improve at all and quickly after the break Tom Williams intercepted a poor ball out of defence and he was left one on one with keeper Allen but the forward shot straight at the keeper who smothered the shot well.

The pressure continued, when on 59mins Mooney bagged his Hat Trick after being put through by Michael Stevenson easily rounding the keeper to make it four nil to the visitors.

Maybe Holwell took their foot off the pedal at this point because Aylestone got their first chance in the match to get one back on 63mins as Jake Limbert sent in a shot which just trickled past the left upright with Cragg beaten. This gave the home side a lift and Holwell’s desire to keep a clean sheet was undone when Rueban Joseph-Walker was allowed to rise at the back post and head a consolation goal for Aylestone.

This angered Holwell seeming to wake them up for the last twenty minutes and the one way traffic resumed with Tinsley coming on for Cowling, Randall for Foster and Bitmead for Rose.

Scott Mooney who along with Sam Bettinson had destroyed the home defence all afternoon nearly bagged his fourth of the match but last ditch defending by Jamie March denied the forward at the near post.

But Mooney was not to be denied and as the game drew to a close he picked up a cross from Tom Williams before going past a couple of defenders along the eighteen yard line before slamming an unstoppable shot in off the bar on 88mins to send the visitors home happy with a comprehensive 5-1 win.Holwell hope to move up the table this week taking on Anstey Nomads on Tuesday evening, 7.45pm at Welby Rd and Radford FC on Saturday at 3pm.
