It was hard to find any positives from this match such was the performance of Holwell on Saturday. Without Graham Keast Holwell travelled to Graham St Prims and Ian Bitmead played in midfield to inject some grit in front of the back four.
However it only took Lee Fell 5mins to put the home side in front when Holwell failed to deal with a corner to the back post and with Cragg rooted to the spot the home side were ahead. Holwell tried to get going and straight after the goal Mooney did well to force a quick corner.
The visitors were trying to get back on terms and Mooney was given the chance to level on 16mins but shot straight at the keeper.
The visitors defence looked shaky and on 24mins the found themselves two down when another deep cross was not defended and in a repeat of the first, with the visitors keeper not attacking crosses they were again embarrassed when Dean Oliver headed the ball into the net with a free header. Holwell were all at sea at this point and looked very poor.
However 5mins after going two down Scott Mooney brought the game back towards Holwell when he latched onto a ball in the box twisted and turned a defender before unleashing a shot in off the left hand post to make it 2-1.
This spurred Holwell on and the Prims seemed to take a backward step to the end of the half and against the play Kieran Foster found himself bringing Holwell level with the last touch of the ball on 45mins when he bundled the ball in at the near post to level the match. HT 2-2
Surely Holwell would be better in the second half after a grilling from Simon Daws?
Unfortunately not, though Mooney had the chance to put the visitors in front on 48mins it never looked likely that Holwell would get anything out of this game and Richard Cragg rounded off a poor performance when on 55mins after picking up the ball in the box his throw out to Chapman on the left was interceped and Prims went straight on the attack resulting in goal number 3 for player of the match Phil Summerfield putting the home side back in front.
Holwell tried to get back in the game with Mooney and Bettinson up front slugging it out. Holwell certainly missed the craft and probing of Graham Keast in this match.
It was all over on 75mins when James Rushby was allowed to volley from the edge of the box with a well placed shot which gave Cragg no chance.
Ten minutes later Phil Summerfield bagged his second and Graham St Prims fifth when he connected with the ball on the left and shot under the diving Cragg at the near post.
There was nothing positive in Holwell’s performance here, a real bad day at the office. One to shrug off and concentrate on the next match.
