Holwell staged a fantastic comeback in the last 30minutes of this match to grab all three points from 5th placed Aylestone Park which sees Holwell lift themselves five places in the League since the turn of the year.

Aylestone Park 2 - 3 Holwell Sports

The first half of this game was poor with neither team being able to play decent football. However Aylestone seemed to be managing slightly better and No9 Levi Ramsey was giving the visitors defence plenty to worry about in the opening 20mins. Ramsey could have opened the scoring on 18mins but fluffed his shot in front of goal.

Nether team were making any impression and something special or a mistake was the only way any goal seemed likely and on 30mins Chris Hibbitt failed to control a ball out of defence. Luke Towers robbed the ball took a couple of paces to steady himself and unleashed a great shot from 25yds which left Cragg in the Holwell goal with no chance high into the top corner.

Holwell lost Graham Wells to injury on 40mins replaced by Ben Smedley. As the game drifted to half time Holwell did seem to be asserting themselves and Aaron Ridout was unlucky not to equalise at a corner when his flick was cleared off the line just before halftime. HT 1-0

Holwell were not out of this match and as the second half started they pushed forward with Mooney beginning to chase into the channels. The visitors would have been happy to take a draw if they got level.

However it was Ayelstone who increased their lead on 57 mins when Ramsey finally got something out of the game. Smedley lost the ball in midfield and the ball was played up to Ramsey who shot from the edge of the box under Richard Cragg for 2 – 0.

Holwell needed to chase the game now and began to get back on top, a long clearance by Richard Cragg to Scott Mooney on 59mins was only just tipped away by keeper Foxon and seconds later a good delivery by Kieran Foster was headed back across goal by Mooney to Hibbitt to head down but again Foxon was at hand to save.

Holwell were on top now and it seemed only a matter of time for them to break through and to the delight of the travelling supporters Michael Stevenson won the ball in midfield putting Scott Mooney in to get one back for Holwell on 63mins.

Aylestone seemed to go to peaces after this defending deep allowing Holwell to come onto them and Manager Daws sent on new signing Sam Bettison for Fray to add strength up front and the move paid off as defenders could not get to grips with his movement allowing space for Mooney and Kirkby to exploit.

It was Holwell who were getting the better of the play by far now and chances were coming it looked as though a draw was on the cards when on 82mins the visitors worked the ball well from the back to Ben Smedley and his cross to Mooney found him in space on the left, his delivery into the box was met on the full by Jay Kirkby to equalise, heading passed Foxon for 2 - 2.

Holwell had their tales up now and the home team seemed to have lost all impetus and concentration. Holwell were pushing on for the winner and Bettison’s introduction was giving the home defence trouble.

As the game came to a close with all assuming a draw and into added time, Hallows started a move at left back onto Keast then Stevenson in midfield who sent Mooney into the box and as he cut in passed a defender new boy Sam Bettison struck to send the visitors home ecstatic with the winner on 90 + 2mins.

A fantastic result, four wins out of four in 2013 with Bardon Hill the visitors at Welby Road this Saturday.
