Hurricane Birstall blows Holwell away!

Holwell sports 1 – 6 Birstall FC

Holwell took on tenth placed Birstall FC on Tuesday but probably wished they hadn’t as they were systematically taken apart as Birstall run riot with Dan Jelly scoring a hat trick.

The home side were one nil down as soon as the third minute, Ashley Way scoring after a sweeping attack as Holwell lost the ball just after they had kicked off ! Not the best of starts but typical of Holwell lately.

Holwell just could not live with Birstall who were attacking at will cutting through Holwell’s defence like a knife through butter.

Nothing really positive to report about Holwell at all as every time they seemed to stem an attack the clearance just came straight back at them with a vengeance.

It was not even one of these games that you can call a bad day at the office it was worse than that.

A very poor performance by Holwell treated to a master class by Birstall.

For the record goals were Dan Jelly 35, 65,87, Ashley Way 3,62, Tom Marriott 24 with Brad Smith scoring for Holwell on 43mins.

Holwell put in the effort with some putting body and soul into trying to stem the tide but the gulf in class was just too much.

Next up for Holwell a home match against fourth placed Aylestone Park who have the added advantage of not having had a match for ten days.
