In previous seasons Anstey have proven quite the bogey side for Holwell and they arrived at Welby Road on a run off 8 unbeaten league games.
With Daws still suspended and Hatton away Keast remained in charge but was without Hallam (unavailable), Randall (unavailable), Calver (holiday), and Wells (injury). In came McKay and Barnard from last weekends defeat to Arnold.
Holwell started brightly a could off been 4-0 up in twenty minutes. Stannard shot wide, and then a couple of minutes later sent his lob to high over keeper and goal. Stannard again tried his luck but saw his effort blocked on the line this time, before Mooney saw his rebounded effort saved by the keeper.
Holwell and Stannard finally saw some reward for their early dominance as Stannard finally converted after jinking inside two defenders and curling his effort in to the far corner after being sent through by Mooney.
The goal finally seem to stir Anstey in to life as they began to compete and press Holwell higher up the field. The rest of the first half a more competitive affair and Anstey nearly levelled after a defensive mix up nearly left them with a tap in but Holwell scrambled it clear.
Just as it looked like being 1-0 at half time Holwell doubled their advantage. A Stevenson set piece was headed towards goal by Hibbitt who effort was saved but on hand was Mooney to head home from close range.
Anstey began the second half in determined fashioned looking to reduce the arrears and they got their chance on the hour mark when Parra-Watson conceded a penalty, that Coore calmly finished.
Anstey continued to push forward in search of a equaliser but despite their endeavour failed to really test or threaten Stainsby in the Holwell goal. In fact it was more likely Holwell would score next but Stannard and Mooney were unable to put the game to bed as Holwell made heavy weather off getting across the line in sealing the three points, but that they did.
Holwell make the short trip the Barrow on bank holiday Monday knowing that a win over their local rivals will see them leapfrog them into 8th.
