A Mooney hat-trick set Holwell on their way to a midweek victory and a place in the top 10 of the EMCL.

On a damp Welby Road pitch Holwell hit four to see off a young spirited Aylestone Park side.

Daws was forced into a few changes with Hallam and Parra-Watson unavailable. Stevenson dropped in to the back four with Smith coming in to replace Hallam. Rose was on the bench after his suspension.

Holwell started brightly and looked to seize the initiative and Mooney gave Holwell the lead when Stannard pulled back for Mooney to fire into the net.

Mooney doubled Holwells' lead 5 minutes later firing past the Aylestone goalkeeper from the penalty spot after a handball.

Holwell continued to have the better of the first half but failed to add to their tally. A Keast cross was drilled across goal but evaded everybody, before Chapman replicated from the left.

Stannard fired over and Mooney was denied his hat-trick by a late block. Wells had a header saved, before Fosters free kick failed to trouble the keeper.

Holwell didn't have to wait to long in the second half before Mooney completed his hat trick 10 minutes in after being sent through slotting low past the helpless keeper.

Holwell continued to create chances but failed to convert any more before being forced in to a couple of changes with Wells and Smith both being forced of with hamstring injuries.

Aylestone to their credit kept plugging away and looked to seek a route back in to the match when substitute Small pulled one back with ten minutes to go.

Keast added a final bit of gloss to the result after cutting inside from the left a curling the ball into far corner past the again helpless Aylestone keeper.

A convincing midweek victory for Holwell which sees them move into the top ten since the first month of the season. Holwell now sit 4 points off Barrow in 7th place with two games in hand on their local rivals.

Holwell travel the high flying Ellistown and Ibstock on Saturday.
