Holwell left Kimberley frustrated after failing to convert numerous chances and then striking the bar in final minute.

After another enforced break due to the weather Holwell returned to action against Kimberley Miners Welfare who have so far this season always held a position above Holwell in the EMCL. With the sides now sat level on points this was always going to be a close encounter especially on a pitch that was not football friendly.

Daws had the luxury of naming an unchanged side from the team that defeated Anstey except for Stainsby returning from suspension.

The game started with both sides showing plenty of endeavor, but the footballing quality was minimal mainly due to the state of the Stag Ground pitch.

After a tight opening it was Kimberley who had the first chance to break deadlock but the forward was unable to find the target with his head with the goal at his mercy.

Holwell then struck back and had the best of the play for the remaining 20 minutes of the first half. Mooney was slipped through by Stevenson but his clip over the on rushing goal keeper drifted wide. Further chances fell to Keast, Wells, and Stannard but all failed to trouble the Kimberley keeper with there efforts either being blocked or intercepted.

The second half began in much the same vein with the midfield being the main battled ground. As the half progressed however Kimberley began to get on top of the game and restricted Holwell to counter attack assaults.

Kimberleys best chance when Stainsby was forced into a double save, rushing off his line the save from the oncoming forward before quickly reacting and blocking the follow up effort.

Holwell weren't content with just defending for the draw with Stannard, Mooney, and Stevenson all trying their luck but failing to trouble the keeper.

Daws introduced new signing Parra-Watson for his debut as he reshuffled his pack in search of the opening goal.

With time running out Kimberley were reduced to ten men when the referee showed a second yellow to a Kimberley midfielder. Time was against Holwell to take advantage of this however.

Holwell did create a further two chances in the final 5 minutes but failed to make them count. Firstly Keast shot wide from distance with runners overloading the attack, before in the dying moments Foster when put through despite managing to beat the keeper saw his effort flick of the crossbar and to safety.

The result sees both teams sat in 11th and 12th respectively still level on points with Holwell having two game in hand.

Holwell have the chance to gain places on Tuesday night when they host Aylestone Park at Welby Road. A good enough win could see Holwell jump to 9th before they travel to Ellistown and Ibstock on saturday.

Aylestone entertained in form Radford on Saturday and went down 0-3 against the leagues form side.
